The Central Government has now focused a lot on providing a safe and legal path to Indians going abroad for jobs. In this direction, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) organized the Human Resource Mobility Forum for the first time. This two-day forum was held on 30 June and 1 July at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi, where the Government of India, foreign governments, foreign employers and recruitment agencies came together to discuss global employment and legal human resource mobility.
The aim of this initiative is not only to increase employment opportunities abroad, but also to provide security to Indians who often become victims of fake agents and illegal recruitment networks. It was emphasized in the forum that the recruitment process for Indians going abroad should be completely safe, transparent and legal.
Preparing to end exploitative recruitment practices
The forum was inaugurated by Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar did it. He said that the countries of the world have a shared responsibility to strengthen legal human resource mobility and eliminate exploitative recruitment practices. He said that such platforms will help in creating new partnerships to suit the needs of the global talent of the future.
The External Affairs Minister also mentioned the eMigrate 2.0 portal and said that it is becoming an important medium to ensure safe, legal and systematic foreign employment for Indian workers. The most important feature of the forum was that India organized separate sessions with five countries—Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia—with which there already exist agreements or partnerships on labor and human resource mobility. In these meetings, the increasing global demand for Indian skilled workforce, secure recruitment system and new employment opportunities were discussed in detail.
Trying to provide opportunities to skilled professionals
In fact, in many developed countries of the world, the demand for trained employees in healthcare, manufacturing, IT, engineering and technical sectors is continuously increasing. In such a situation, India is trying to ensure that its skilled professionals and workers can access these opportunities through safe and legal means.
This is the first time that the Ministry of External Affairs has brought together all the key stakeholders related to human resource mobility, government ministries, foreign governments, employers and recruitment agencies, on a common platform and facilitated a comprehensive discussion on this topic. This indicates that in the coming times, the government will focus on developing a more systematic, secure and institutional system for Indians for employment abroad.
