A major controversy has come to light amid the ongoing movement in Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) had claimed on July 15 that Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir had sent Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Chairman Syed Qamar Raza as his special representative for talks. After his assurance, the committee had announced to stop the proposed long march towards Muzaffarabad, while talking about continuing the dharna.
However, shortly after this, this claim was refuted by the Pakistan Army. It was claimed that no representative was sent by the Army for any kind of conversation or negotiation.
‘There is no talk with JAAC’
Meanwhile, PoJK Law Minister Akil Malik also said in a TV interview that no talks are going on between the government with the Awami Action Committee and Asim Munir also did not send anyone for talks. This has created a situation of anger and confusion among the agitators.
‘Stopped the march by promising to negotiate’
Sources associated with the movement allege that the long march towards Muzaffarabad was stopped by promising the protesters talks, but now both the government and the army are refusing to talk. Meanwhile, there is news that the protesters have given an ultimatum till July 21 to the Pakistan government to fulfill their demands.
what is the demand
Release of arrested JAAC leaders and activists
Withdrawal of security actions and restoration of communication services
Implementation of pre-determined 38-point charter
Better political representation and improved governance
Better access to electricity, food supplies and essential services
JAAC warning
The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has warned that if their demands are not met during this period, their Muzaffarabad long march will start again from July 22. The protesters have made it clear that all the protests will continue as before and the mass movement will also continue.
73 people died in 40 days
Massive protests have been going on against Pakistan for more than a month in PoJK. During this period, 73 people have died in the last 40 days. At the same time, it has also been alleged that Pak Rangers are still not handing over 57 bodies to their families. There is a lot of resentment among the people against the Pakistani government and army and they seem to be in a tough mood this time.
