NEET-UG Re-Exam 2026: ‘Burqa is my religious identity, I will not remove it’, this is how the student got entry after the uproar in Ajmer

June 21, 2026 by Uma Shankar

In Rajasthan, a controversy arose when a student who appeared in a burqa during the re-examination for NEET was not given entry. The officials stopped him from entering the center citing security checking rules. On this the student said that burqa is an important part of her religious identity and she cannot take it off to appear in the examination.

However, after much uproar and negotiations with the administration, the student was finally allowed to enter the examination center after a thorough security check. This entire incident took place at the Savitri School Examination Center located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, where Kulsoom, a resident of Beawar, arrived to take the examination wearing a burqa.

Due to this, the officials posted there did not allow him to enter the examination centre. The student and her family objected to this. The student alleged that she was not allowed entry because she was wearing a burqa. Due to this she became very upset and disappointed.

Second daughter got admission in the examination center

Outside the examination centre, talks and efforts for a solution went on for a long time between the student, her family and the officials. Kulsoom’s father told that his two daughters were appearing for NEET exam. He said that his other daughter did not face any problem at any other examination centre, whereas here his daughter was being refused entry.

Cannot compromise on religious identity

He alleged that his daughter had reached the examination center following all the necessary documents and prescribed rules, yet she was stopped. Student Kulsoom said that she had come to take the exam and was ready to follow all the rules, but could not compromise with her religious identity. She further said that even if she had missed her exam due to not getting permission, she would not have backed down from her principles.

Entry received after investigation and identity verification

Eventually, the officials present at the examination center contacted their superiors to inform them about the situation. It is being told that after receiving the necessary instructions, the student was thoroughly examined and her identity confirmed as per the prescribed procedure. After this, Kulsoom got permission to enter the examination center, so that she could take the examination.
