July 23, 2026 by Uma Shankar

NEET-UG 2024: CBI has given clean chit to Sanjeev Mukhiya in the NEET-UG 2024 paper leak case. The investigating agency said that during the investigation against Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanjeev Mukhiya, no such evidence was found which could prove his role in this case. The agency said that the things being said in social media and other mediums about his deliberate rescue are completely baseless.

According to CBI, initially Bihar Police had registered a case of theft of question paper of NEET-UG 2024. At that time, Sanjeev Mukhiya’s name was added to the FIR because he had already been an accused in some cases related to exam question paper leak and theft. Later this case was handed over to CBI. During a detailed investigation, the agency identified the question paper theft, its distribution and all the people who benefited from it. So far, several charge sheets have been filed in Patna court against 45 accused in this case.

No evidence found against Sanjeev Mukhiya – CBI

CBI says that during the entire investigation, no evidence was found against Sanjeev Mukhiya to prove that he was involved in a conspiracy to steal or distribute the question paper of NEET-UG 2024. Sanjeev Mukhiya was absconding during the investigation. Later Bihar Police arrested him in other cases. Since his name was also in the FIR of NEET-UG case, CBI took him on police remand and interrogated him.

The claim of keeping Sanjeev Mukhiya out of the investigation is wrong – CBI

However, even after interrogation and investigation, no concrete evidence was found against him, hence CBI did not file a charge sheet against him in this case. The agency said that despite getting bail in the NEET-UG case, Sanjeev Mukhiya remained in judicial custody due to the investigation by Bihar Police in other cases.

CBI reiterated that the entire conspiracy in the NEET-UG 2024 paper theft case has been exposed and all the people involved have been identified and legal action has been taken against them. According to the agency, the claim of deliberately keeping Sanjeev Mukhiya out of the investigation is completely false and misleading.
