A ‘show cause notice’ has been issued to a police officer in connection with the suicide of a student preparing for NEET in Nagpur, Maharashtra. It is alleged that the police officer investigating the incident had not included the alleged suicide note written by the student in the case diary. In this regard, DCP Nityanand Jha says that there was no mention of suicide note in the case diary entry of the station, hence it was not included with the case diary. He said that for this lapse, a notice has been issued to Nikhil Tabhane, the investigating officer of Ambazari police station.
Whereas, another officer said that there was no mention of suicide note in any document related to the case. However, when this matter came to light, senior police officers handed over the responsibility of the report to the DCP. In fact, Madhya Pradesh student Akanksha Chaturvedi, 18, had allegedly committed suicide in her own room on May 20. Earlier on May 3, Akanksha had given the NEET exam.
Before committing suicide, Akanksha wrote in the suicide note, Mom, Dad, there is no guarantee that I will be able to get good marks in the next NEET. This note was written when NTA had announced that due to the leak of the paper, the NEET exam would be held again. This matter gained momentum and became a national issue. After this Rahul Gandhi posted this incident on social media.
What was written in the suicide note?
Actually, this suicide note was found when his family members were busy searching through his study materials and his book, which was later given to the Ambazari police. It was written in the note, ‘Mummy and Papa, you all believed that one day I would study and become a doctor. But I don’t have the courage to take the exam again. I had scored good marks in the exam earlier, but there is no guarantee that I will be able to do so again, I am sorry, I have ruined everything.
More than 650 marks were expected
The student’s father is a small farmer but used to work as a cook in Nagpur to run the house. During interrogation, the father had told the police that when the daughter came home after giving the exam, she said that this time she was expected to get more than 650 marks. However, her family members said that she was worried about the paper leak and re-examination. Due to which his behavior also changed. In this case, a police officer says that the statements of the student’s family have been recorded and further investigation is going on. Further action will be taken after complete investigation.
