
Following the order of Delhi High Court, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who was fasting for the last 24-25 days, was shifted from Safdarjung to Medanta Hospital. After this, Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh went and met him. According to sources, the meeting between JP Nadda, Jitendra Singh and Sonam Wangchuk lasted for more than an hour at Medanta Hospital.
JP Nadda inquired about Sonam Wangchuk’s health. JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh informed Sonam Wangchuk about the government’s decision, under which the government is ready to start discussion on this issue in Parliament. According to sources, the government assured Sonam Wangchuk that necessary and appropriate steps are being taken regarding education reforms in the country.
Government gave confidence to Wangchuk
The government urged Sonam Wangchuk to appeal to the students to trust the government and not take any further agitational steps. Before going to Medanta Hospital, Jitendra Singh met Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Let us tell you that Wangchuk was brought to Medanta Hospital by ambulance under tight security at around 7:30 pm on Tuesday evening. He was admitted to ICU-8 of the hospital.
HC ordered to shift Medanta
On Tuesday, Delhi High Court had ordered to shift Sonam Wangchuk from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram. The court said that now his treatment will be done there. The team of doctors from Safdarjung and AIIMS will monitor his health.
Delhi High Court gave this decision on the petition of Wangchuk’s wife Gitanjali Angmo. Geetanjali had demanded from the High Court that she should be shifted from Safdarjung to a private hospital. He had mentioned Medanta.
