
Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, who left Aam Aadmi Party and joined Bharatiya Janata Party, has got a big responsibility. Chadha has been appointed the new chairman of the petition committee of Rajya Sabha. This appointment is effective from 20 May 2026 and has been made by the Chairman of Rajya Sabha as part of the reconstitution of the committee. Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan has reorganized this committee and nominated ten members in it.
It is being told that this appointment of Raghav Chaddha has come into effect with immediate effect. Apart from Raghav Chadha, Harsh Mahajan, Ghulam Ali, Shambhu Sharan Patel, Mayank Kumar Nayak, Mastan Rao Yadav Beedha, JB Mather Hisham, Subhashish Khuntia, V Narjari and Santosh Kumar P have been made members in the committee. In a separate notification of the Lok Sabha, the Speaker has nominated Arvind Ganpat Sawant to the Joint Committee on Corporate Laws (Amendment) Bill and the decision is effective from May 21.
What does the petition committee do?
The Petitions Committee is an important committee of the Parliament, which examines the petitions sent by common citizens. This committee considers complaints related to laws, policies and administrative decisions and makes suggestions to the government. Through this, the public can directly convey their problems to the Parliament, which makes it an important link in the democratic system.
