Now a new development has come to light in the case related to the Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate of Madhya Pradesh Minister of State for Urban Development Pratima Bagri. The State Level Scrutiny Committee of the Scheduled Caste Development Department issued a notice to him and directed him to appear in person on July 6. Complainant Pradeep Ahirwar has also been instructed to do so.
According to the information, in the notice issued by the committee to Pratima Bagri, it has been said that she should present her side with all the necessary documents related to her caste. The committee has instructed them to bring all necessary and relevant original documents in support of their claims. The committee will take further decision in this matter after listening to all the parties.
Controversy related to caste certificate
This matter is related to the complaint of State President of Congress Scheduled Caste Department, Pradeep Ahirwar. The entire controversy is regarding the caste certificate of Pratima Bagri. He had contested the elections from the reserved Raigaon assembly seat of Satna district on the basis of Scheduled Caste certificate and had won. After this he was made the Minister of State for Urban Development in the state government.
Pradeep Ahirwar challenged
This matter has been challenged by Congress Scheduled Caste Department State President Pradeep Ahirwar. She filed a petition in the High Court claiming that the Bagri community to which Pratima Bagri belongs is not included in the list of Scheduled Castes in Satna area. It has also been said in the petition that he belongs to Rajput or Thakur community. Therefore, contesting elections on the basis of SC certificate and winning from a reserved seat is not in accordance with the rules.
Ahirwar had filed a complaint before the High Level Scrutiny Committee in April 2025 alleging that the caste certificate of Pratima Bagri had allegedly been issued wrongly. He had demanded to check the validity of the certificate and take necessary action.
After no action was taken on the complaint for a long time, Pradeep Ahirwar had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL). During the hearing on the petition, the court had directed the concerned authority to resolve the matter within the prescribed time limit. However, the final decision could not be taken within the stipulated time.
The investigation committee summoned both the parties
Now the high level investigation committee has taken the hearing process forward by summoning both the parties on July 6. Complainant Pradeep Ahirwar claimed that he expected a fair investigation. He says that the caste certificate of Pratima Bagri should be cancelled. At the same time, the final decision in the matter will be taken only after investigation and hearing by the high level investigation committee.
