
The monsoon session of Parliament may start from July 20. It is likely to continue till August 13. There can be 19 meetings in its four-week long monsoon session. The impact of split in TMC, rebellion of six Lok Sabha MPs of Shiv Sena UBT, separation of DMK and India Bloc will be visible on the sitting plan of Lok Sabha. Before the start of the session, the Speaker will give a decision on the merger of 20 rebel TMC MPs with NCPI. The Speaker will also give a decision on the merger of six Shiv Sena UBT MPs into Shiv Sena Shinde.
A decision will also be taken on the rebel MPs of DMK and TMC sitting separately in the Lok Sabha. On the other hand, NDA, which is close to two-third majority, is insisting on bringing many important bills in the session. Apart from this, the government can bring two important constitutional amendment bills. Apart from this, the government can bring the 131st Constitution Amendment Bill related to women’s reservation and delimitation.
Which bill in monsoon session?
The government can make an important amendment in this bill, which was left to become a law in April, under which a provision to increase the seats of Lok Sabha and Legislative Assemblies by 50 percent can be made in the bill itself. The 130th Constitution Amendment Bill, which snatches the chair of PM, CM and Minister from jail for more than 30 days, can also go in the monsoon session. The JPC formed on this bill may suggest some important amendments in it, in which those laws may be mentioned clearly. In case of punishment, the chair should be taken away. Besides, JPC can also recommend making some provisions in its report to prevent misuse of the law.
What issues may require discussion?
At the same time, the government can also insist on passing the One Nation One Election bill. Apart from these, FCRA Bill, Vikas Bharat Education Foundation Bill, Anti-Doping Bill can also be brought in the monsoon session. In lieu of the ordinance to increase the number of judges in the Supreme Court, bills like Code on Wages, Central Rules, Corporate Law, Securities Market Code can also be brought. The opposition may demand a discussion on the situation of drought across the country due to lack of monsoon and floods due to excessive rainfall in some places.
Apart from this, the opposition will try to corner the government on issues like NEET paper leak, theft of Ram temple offerings, inflation, prices of petrol and diesel, unemployment. The opposition will also attack the government regarding the split in regional parties and the role of the government behind it. The opposition is also preparing to raise the issue of voter list revision campaign (SIR) in the Parliament. However, after the victory of West Bengal and Assam, BJP is full of confidence and will show the mirror to the opposition parties through the break of India Bloc.
