Money started coming to Bengal as soon as TMC government left, Amul can invest Rs 650 crore!

May 29, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Discussion has intensified in political and industrial circles regarding Amul’s possible investment of Rs 650 crore in West Bengal. Many BJP leaders have claimed on social media that Amul is going to start a mega dairy project in the state. BJP MLA Gaurishankar Ghosh also said through a Facebook post that this investment will generate employment on a large scale in the state and strengthen the dairy infrastructure.

It is being claimed that Amul can set up its wholly owned dairy processing plant in West Bengal. If this happens then it will be considered a big step for the dairy sector of the state. However, till now no formal announcement has been made by Amul or West Bengal government regarding this investment.

Industry and employment may get a boost

Experts believe that if this investment comes to fruition, it can provide direct and indirect employment to thousands of people in the state. Dairy farmers are also expected to benefit from this. Milk production, cold storage and supply chain network can be strengthened in the state.

Economic expert Anirban Dutta says that the West Bengal government is continuously talking to various investment agencies. It is possible that Amul may have shown interest in investing in the state under the same process. According to him, expansion of dairy based industry in a big state like Bengal will be a welcome step.

BJP has already raised the issue of industry

A few days ago, West Bengal BJP President Shamik Bhattacharya had met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. In this meeting there was discussion about increasing industry and investment in the state. BJP has also identified five potential areas for industrial development in Bengal. These places include Singur, Ashoknagar, Ranaghat, Purulia and Jhargram. The party claims that there are good possibilities for industrial development in these areas. Now after the news of Amul’s possible investment, political discussions have become more intense. At present, everyone’s eyes are fixed on the official announcement of the state government and Amul. If this project goes ahead, it will be seen as a major industrial investment in West Bengal.
