
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a Europe tour of two countries. In the second phase of the visit, the PM reached the Republic of Slovakia on Sunday where he was given a warm welcome. On reaching the hotel in Bratislava, he also greeted the people of the Indian community. To welcome the PM in the capital, the local people sang Vande Mataram, and the famous children’s folk dance group ‘Kopanisiarik’ from the Miava region of Slovakia also presented a traditional Slovak dance.
The youth of Slovakia gave a brilliant presentation of ‘Vande Mataram’ in a hotel in Bratislava and captivated the heart of Prime Minister Modi. The same group had sung ‘Vande Mataram’ during the President’s visit to Slovakia last year.

Presentation of ‘Mahadev Kirtan Project’
Not only this, another local musical group also presented a spiritual presentation of ‘Mahadev Kirtan Project’ which was appreciated by the Prime Minister.

Slovak welcome with bread and salt
Earlier, as part of Slovak culture, PM Modi was warmly welcomed in Slovak style by giving him bread and salt in the hotel. In Slovak, the traditional welcome with bread and salt is considered a symbol of hospitality, respect and goodwill. This is very important for the guest, especially the honored guest.

In the hotel itself, a dance performance in traditional attire by the famous children’s folk dance group named ‘Kopanisiarik’ from the Miava region of Slovakia was presented.
PM Modi is in Slovakia on the second leg of his two-nation visit, during which he will meet President Peter Pellegrini and PM Robert Fico and will also meet several business leaders.
First Indian PM to visit Slovakia
In the year 1993, Czechoslovakia was divided and two republics named Czech and Slovakia were formed. Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Slovakia, which came into existence as a new country in 1993.

PM Modi reached Bratislava for a 2-day visit (June 14-16) after bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron in the French city of Nice. Before coming to Slovakia, he also participated in the inauguration ceremony of ‘Bharat Innovates’ program in France.

A statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said that the visit follows the state visit of President Draupadi Murmu to Slovakia in April last year and the visit of Slovakian President Pellegrini to India for the AI Impact Summit in February 2026.
PM will again go back to France from Slovakia
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I look forward to welcoming you in Bratislava on Monday. Your historic visit will build on our good talks in New Delhi and open up new opportunities for Slovakia-India cooperation,” President Pellegrini said in a post on X on Saturday.
PM Modi will return to France again tomorrow on Tuesday. He will attend the G7 summit in Evian on 16-17 June. At the summit, the PM is expected to deliberate on issues such as international cooperation, economic development and artificial intelligence with G7 leaders and invited partner countries. Many bilateral meetings will also take place during this period. The final leg of his visit will be in Paris on June 18, where he will join President Macron at VivaTech 2026, Europe’s largest technology and startup event.
