July 9, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Indian team’s young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi has made his international debut and has shown some glimpses of his talent. However, till now he has not been able to play any such big innings which he played in IPL. But everyone is expecting such a blast from his bat soon. But meanwhile in the IPL, his Rajasthan Royals teammate Luan Dre Pretorius has definitely wreaked havoc with his batting. Pretorius, playing in America’s Major League Cricket (MLC), made his team win by scoring a brilliant century in just 52 balls.

Pretorius’s first century in T20 cricket

South Africa’s 20-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Luan Dre Pretorius is playing for San Francisco Unicorns in this American T20 league. While playing for this team, he played a brilliant innings against MI New York, in which it rained a lot of fours and sixes. This left-handed batsman scored this century in just 52 balls, in which he hit 10 fours and 5 sixes. Pretorius’s innings was special because it was his first century in T20 cricket. Apart from this, the target of the New York team was only 144 runs and the Unicorns achieved it by scoring 146 runs. Out of these 146 runs of the team, Pretorius alone scored 102 runs. That means this young batsman single-handedly scored almost 70 percent of the team’s score. Obviously this innings had to be special and for this he was chosen Player of the Match.

Captain Short’s deadly bowling

Earlier, San Francisco captain and experienced all-rounder Matthew Short again trapped MI New York batsmen in the web of his spin. In the last match played between the two teams, Short had taken 4 wickets. Continuing the same bowling, the captain of Unicorns took 3 wickets in this match also. For New York, only openers Ryan Rickleton (35) and Sunny Patel (32) could play for some time. With this win, Unicorns have achieved 10 points in 8 matches this season and have secured first place in the table.
