Mirwaiz Farooq praised PM Modi, said this in Jama Masjid, Srinagar

June 26, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Today, separatist leader Mirwaiz Omar Farooq praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar. Mirwaiz said that Prime Minister Modi is among the longest serving leaders of independent India. When he assumed office, he talked about regional cooperation. Showed interest in improving relations with neighboring countries. These steps gave hope to the whole of South Asia.

Mirwaiz said, he got a chance to interact with his colleagues and leaders of different political parties. These included Prime Minister Vajpayee, Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani and Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Even though differences remained, these meetings put forward an important principle, dialogue has its own importance. This reduces distrust. Opposing views can be seen from a human perspective.

Mirwaiz advocated peace and dialogue

Mirwaiz said that we hope that the spirit of dialogue which was first seen in PM Modi and the efforts that were made during the era of leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Dr. Manmohan Singh, will be seen once again. Peace may be difficult, negotiations may be slow, yet these are the most reliable ways to resolve issues and ensure a better future.

Apart from this, on the occasion of Muharram, Mirwaiz said that the tragic incident of Karbala is not just a chapter of history, but an everlasting lesson of truth, patience, justice and sacrifice. Imam Hussain was not looking for war or conflict. He stood for the principle that differences should be resolved honestly through truth, adherence to the principles of Islam and dialogue.

Mirwaiz spoke on Iran war

Referring to recent global events, Mirwaiz said that the recent confrontation between America and Israel with Iran once again reminds us that military power, no matter how great, has its limits. Wars can change circumstances and cause great suffering, but lasting peace and permanent solutions require dialogue, negotiation and wise leadership.

He said that despite months of conflict, huge wastage of resources and immense suffering to the people, the opposing sides finally returned to the negotiating table. This is not a sign of weakness on any side. This reflects the fact that disputes cannot be resolved through force alone. The efforts of regional and international powers, including Pakistan and Qatar, towards creating a good environment for talks are also praiseworthy.
