
Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) Pune has achieved great success. This institute has secured first position in Maharashtra and third position at the national level in ‘India Today-MDRA Best Medical College Ranking 2026’. It has also emerged as the lowest fee and highest ranking government medical college in the country. The institute performed well on the evaluation parameters of the ranking. It ranked second nationally in terms of career advancement and placements and third in both objective and perceptual scores.
Further strengthening its position at the national level, Armed Forces Medical College has secured fifth position among all medical colleges in India in ‘THE WEEK-Hansa Research Survey 2026’. It has been ranked as the Top Medical College in the Western Region, underscoring its leadership in medical education and training in the region. These achievements reaffirm AFMC’s stellar legacy of excellence and inspire the Institute to achieve even higher standards in education, research, patient care and leadership, thereby contributing to the development of military medicine and the National Health Service.
This year, 62 medical colleges across the country were included in the survey. AIIMS Delhi has secured the first position in the list of top medical colleges. According to the rankings, Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER), Puducherry, took the second position, while Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, took the third position, Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore took the fourth position and Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi, took the fifth position.
Score of top-10 medical colleges
- All India Institute of Ayurvedic Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi stands first with a PCP score of 173.7 out of 180.
- Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) is ranked second with a PCP score of 153.7 out of 180.
- Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune is ranked third with a PCP score of 136.9 out of 180.
- Christian Medical College and Hospital has secured the fourth position with a PCP score of 155.4 out of 180.
- Maulana Azad Medical College has secured fifth position with a PCP score of 142.9 out of 180.
- Vardhman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjung Hospital is ranked sixth with a PCP score of 130.3 out of 180.
- King George’s Medical University has been ranked 7th with a PCP score of 131.5 out of 180.
- All India Institute of Ayurvedic Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur is ranked 8th with a PCP score of 124.5 out of 180.
- University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) has secured 9th position with a PCP score of 97.1 out of 180.
- All India Institute of Ayurvedic Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar is ranked 10th with a PCP score of 104.7 out of 180.
