Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a tour of Indonesia. Yesterday on Tuesday, PM Modi, while mentioning the deep friendship between India and Indonesia, presented a simple example of mathematics. Addressing the Indian community in the capital Jakarta, PM Modi linked the number 8 with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and India’s Republic Day. Hearing this couplet, the people present there smiled.
During his address, PM Modi said that Republic Day is celebrated every year on 26 January in India, then he asked people to add 2 and 6. When added this number became 8. After this he told that President Subianto was born on the 17th, and adding the numbers 1 and 7 makes 8.
Was the chief guest on Republic Day last year
He said, “India celebrated its Republic Day with great enthusiasm last year on January 26. 26… 2 plus 6 is 8, and my friend the President’s birthday falls on 17th, in this also 1 plus 7 is 8.”
