Shiva is worshiped during Nishita period on the day of monthly Shivratri. Nishita Kaal is being attained on the monthly Shivratri of Ashadha month on Sunday, 12th July. In such a situation, according to Nishita Kaal, the monthly Shivratri fast will be observed on Sunday, 12th July.

On the day of monthly Shivaratri, take a pledge to worship Lord Shiva in your home temple or Shivalaya. Anoint Shivling with water, milk, curd, honey and Ganga water. After this, offer Belpatra, Dhatura, Aak flower and white sandalwood. Offer cannabis, fruits and sweets to Shiva. Chant Om Namah Shivay mantra and read Shiv Chalisa. At night during Nishita period, anoint Shivalinga again and perform aarti.
