
An Indian Army officer was martyred in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. It is being told that during the ongoing anti-terrorist operation in the district, a Lieutenant rank officer slipped in the hilly area and fell into a deep ditch, due to which he lost his life. The Army has recovered his body.
According to the information, the officers were part of the ongoing ‘Operation Sheruwali’ in Dorimal and Gambhir Mughalan belt of Rajouri district. This operation has been going on continuously for the last 15 days. Security forces had received intelligence that 2 to 3 Pakistani terrorists were hiding in the forests of Rajouri. On the basis of this input, a joint search operation of army, police and paramilitary forces is being conducted.
Accident happened during search
According to officials, an intensive search operation was going on in Dorimal area on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, the Lieutenant’s foot slipped and he fell straight into a 30 meter deep ditch. His fellow soldiers immediately started the rescue operation and pulled him out. During this time he had suffered serious injuries, due to which he died.
Dead body of martyred officer recovered
Security forces have taken out the body of the martyred officer from the ditch. Necessary formalities are being completed by the army and local administration. At present, the identity and other detailed information of the martyred officer is awaited officially. A ceremony will be organized in Jammu today to pay last tribute to the martyred officer, where senior army officers, fellow soldiers and family members will pay their last respects.
Army search operation continues
After receiving information about the presence of terrorists hiding in the forests of Rajouri, the army, police and other security agencies are jointly conducting an operation. Despite the difficult conditions and inaccessible hilly areas, the security forces are continuously carrying forward the search operation. Officials say that the operation to search and arrest the terrorists will continue. Additional soldiers have been deployed in the entire area and surveillance has been increased through drones and other technical means. The operation will be continued until the area is completely freed from terrorists.
