One such actress was Meena Shourie, whom people still remember as ‘Lara Lappa Girl’. In the 50s, she had created a distinct identity in the industry on the basis of her beauty, excellent timing and hit films. But, behind the glamor of the screen, there was such a storm in his life, which never gave him true happiness. Despite marrying five times, Meena Shourie remained alone till the end and the end of her life was also very painful.
Meena Shourie’s real name was Khurshid Jahan. He was born in 1921 in Punjab province of British India. His childhood was spent in financial crunch and the condition of the family was so bad that sometimes it became difficult to even get food for two meals a day. But, her life changed when Khurshid’s elder sister got married in a good house in Mumbai, after which Khurshid also came to Mumbai with her sister. After this, she went to the Muhurat of a film, where famous filmmaker Sohrab Modi noticed her.
Soon became a popular face
Sohrab Modi gave a chance to Khurshida in his film ‘Sikandar’ and from here her film journey started. After entering the film world, Khurshida’s name became Meena, due to her beauty and strong acting, Meena soon became a popular face among the audience. However, along with his success, his personal life continued to get complicated. Meena’s first marriage was with actor and filmmaker Zahoor Raja. Their relationship could not last long and they separated within a few months.

Had a third marriage with K Shourie
After this she married actor Al Nasir, but this relationship also broke soon. Even after two consecutive unsuccessful marriages, Meena did not lose faith in love. Filmmaker Roop again appeared in his life. Shourie came. Both of them got married and Meena did many successful films with him, for this marriage Meena even changed her religion. During this time, the film ‘Ek Thi Ladki’ was released, whose song ‘Lara Lappa Lara Lappa’ proved to be a huge hit. This song made Meena a ‘Lara Lappa Girl’ overnight.
Actress settled in Pakistan
This was his most golden period in terms of career, but perhaps fate had something else in mind. In the year 1956, Meena and Roop K Shourie went to Pakistan in connection with a film. There Meena decided to settle in Pakistan instead of returning to India. This decision also ended his third marriage. Leaving the same relationship with her husband for whom she had even converted to religion, she started a new life in Pakistan. There he again embraced Islam.

After reaching Pakistan, Meena married two more times. First she married filmmaker Raza Mir, but this relationship also did not last long. After this, actor Asad Bukhari came into her life, but this marriage also failed. Gradually his career went downhill. The availability of work in films reduced and the financial crisis increased. This actress, who once lived a luxurious life, was finally forced to live in a small rented house.

The actress had neither a family, nor a life partner, nor anyone who could support her in difficult times. On September 3, 1989, Meena Shourie said goodbye to the world. The most painful aspect of his life was that he had no one with him in his last moments. The situation was so bad that neighbors collected donations and performed his last rites.
