Manipur SIR: How many voters are there in Manipur after removal of 1.58 lakh names? Women ahead of men in draft list

July 6, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Currently, the draft voter list of 19.34 lakh voters has been prepared in the state, this information was given by Manipur Chief Electoral Officer Arun Kumar Sinha. He said that this list has been released after door-to-door counting during Special Intensive Review (SIR). In such a situation, important figures have come to light, like till June 28, 92.42% voters filled and submitted their forms.

The total number of voters here is 19,34,399, of which male voters are 9,40,466 and female voters are 9,93,660 and voters of the third gender are only 294. Here in the SIR it was found that the names of 7,394 voters were registered at more than one place.
And 43,000 voters were found dead. Apart from this, 1,08,283 voters either moved to another place, or could not be traced, or did not submit the form.

Wrong names can be removed and added till 4th August.

Here from July 5 to August 4, any voter can register his claim or objection (for removing wrong names or adding missing names). For this, the final voter list will be released on 6th September. Arun Kumar Sinha said, “Those whose names could not be mapped will get an opportunity to submit supporting documents to prove their link to the 2005 electoral roll. After verification, their names will be included in the final electoral roll.” Responding to media queries on IDPs, the CEO said that the Election Commission has made special arrangements to distribute and collect the counting forms in relief camps through nodal officers.

He said that this work faced logistical problems in the hilly districts, where internet connectivity is not reliable and booth level officers (BLOs) themselves took the filled forms to areas with internet access for digitalization. The CEO said that the eligible people whose names are not in the draft roll can seek inclusion of their names through Form 6 with the prescribed declaration. Objections to entry can be lodged using Form 7, while requests for correction in personal details or change of polling station or constituency can be made through Form 8. Sinha said that no name will be removed from the electoral roll without giving a chance to the voters.
