After the defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee’s troubles are increasing. MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, close to Mamata Banerjee, has resigned from the post of Barasat Organizational District President of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), citing growing public concerns about injustice and corruption in West Bengal.
In his resignation, four times TMC The MP said that recent developments in the state have raised serious questions among the common people and the party leadership cannot ignore it.
Emphasizing the importance of transparency, accountability, discipline and commitment in politics, he said that the poor performance of the party in the recently held assembly elections in the district reflects the mood of the public. Taking moral responsibility for this defeat, Kakoli expressed his desire to resign from the post of District President.
Resignation of Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar
The senior TMC leader also urged the party leadership to once again give importance to experienced and dedicated old workers and said that a strong organizational structure will help in improving the party’s image and reconnecting with grassroots supporters.
Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has already been removed from the post of Chief Vigilance Officer of Lok Sabha. After that he expressed his displeasure by posting on Facebook. He wrote, today I have been rewarded for four decades of loyalty. Then, the speculation increased due to increased security of Central Force in front of Kakoli’s house. Meanwhile, Kakoli held a press conference on Sunday. He said that he is resigning from the post of District President of North 24 Parganas.
Allegations of corruption and injustice in Bengal
Expressing his anger against the new leaders, Kakoli said, what the leaders who came to collect honey after 2011 are saying on Facebook will not be tolerated. They don’t know what they are talking about. I do not agree with the grandeur and opaqueness that has come in the last few years. I have been criticized at different levels. I am not used to this grandeur. I live a middle-class life.
On Sunday, Mamata Banerjee claimed that BJP won by stealing votes. However, Kakoli almost rejected that theory. He said, corruption has happened. Dishonesty has happened. Party leaders have become arrogant. People don’t accept it. People have understood that in democracy you cannot do whatever you want.
Internal discord exposed in TMC
Regarding Kakoli’s resignation, Trinamool MLA Kunal Ghosh said, it is an internal matter of the party. Will not comment right now on whether he has resigned or not. We will tell you when the party asks.
Apart from being an active politician, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar is also a gynecologist by profession. He did MBBS from RG Medical College and Hospital and later took training in Obstetric Ultrasound in London. Known for raising healthcare and women’s issues, she has previously been the National President of Trinamool Mahila Congress and the party’s Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha.
