More than a month has passed since the assembly elections in West Bengal ended, but there is still political turmoil here. Now Mamata Banerjee had appealed to AITC MP Yusuf Pathan from Baharampur to resign. But Yusuf rejected his appeal. However, there is still a lot of time for the 2029 elections, so Mamata was in a hurry to hold by-elections in Baharampur after the resignation of Yusuf Pathan.
In this matter, Mamata had also asked Sourav Ganguly to talk to Yusuf Pathan. He talked to Sourav and asked him to request Yusuf to resign. But, Yusuf clearly refused. Yusuf said that it has been only two years since he got the people’s mandate, so he cannot ignore the people’s mandate. Therefore, he will not resign from the post of MP of Baharampur.
What did Humayun Kabir say?
On one hand, while Mamata’s own team members from Murshidabad are refusing to accept her orders, on the other hand, another party member from Murshidabad, Humayun Kabir, is offering a seat to Mamata. After Yusuf Pathan’s refusal, Mamata Banerjee is planning to go to Parliament from Basirhat Lok Sabha seat. Suspended TMC MLA and AJUP Chairman Humayun Kabir said that if Mamata wants to go to Parliament from Basirhat Lok Sabha constituency, he will help her. It is clear that Mamata is trying to make Murshidabad her next stronghold.
Many MPs are planning to leave the party
It is believed that many senior TMC MPs are angry with the leadership regarding the way the party is functioning and are planning to leave Trinamool. Many TMC MPs have also openly expressed their displeasure. These also include senior MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, who is considered close to Mamata Banerjee. Dastidar, a four-time MP from Barasat, has also complained to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla against TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee. He has alleged that Kalyan Banerjee misbehaved with him inside the House and abused him. Apart from Dastidar, senior MPs Sukhendu Shekhar Roy and Shantanu Sen have also raised questions on the functioning of the party.
