Mamta Banerjee Bhawanipur case: Calcutta High Court strict, orders to keep CCTV footage safe

Calcutta High Court is hearing Mamata Banerjee’s Bhawanipur case today i.e. on Tuesday. During this time the High Court has given a big decision. The court has said that the footage cannot be deleted. Justice Gaurang Kant ordered to preserve all the CCTV footage of Bhawanipur Counting Centre. Now the case will be heard again after two months.

Mamta had challenged the defeat in Bhawanipur in the Calcutta High Court. Actually, she lost the election to Shubhendu Adhikari by 15105 votes. After this he filed a case in the Calcutta High Court challenging the election results. He alleged rigging in the elections. During the hearing, arguments were given that Mamata was ahead after 12 rounds of counting. Then everything changed.

Advocate Kalyan Banerjee gave these arguments on behalf of Mamta. During the hearing on Tuesday, Kalyan requested the High Court to issue an order in this matter as soon as possible and dispose of it quickly. After the hearing, Justice Gaurang Kant ordered to preserve all the CCTV footage of Bhawanipur counting centre.

Mamata’s lawyer Kalyan Banerjee, referring to the day of counting, said that till the 12th round the counting was going on fine. Mamta was ahead. Then everything changed. Trinamool agents were beaten and thrown out. Central forces took the help of BJP agents in this work. Everything changed unusually from the 13th round. All the records are in CCTV cameras.

Complaint against returning officer

Kalyan Banerjee also claimed that the returning officer of Bhawanipur was retained on the post of returning officer despite objections. He was also the election officer of Nandigram. Later he was given the post of Joint Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Office. He also told that the then Chief Electoral Officer of the state was given the post of Chief Secretary.

Kalyan has alleged that Suryanil and another counting agent of Mamata Banerjee were beaten up. He claims that despite calling the General Observer, no action was taken. Mamata Banerjee’s lawyer applied for interim order. He also requested to keep the CCTV footage and EVMs safe. Kalyan Banerjee told the judge to change people’s thinking. Many people believe that such cases are not solved. Change this thinking. Order quickly.
