Mala Ka Jaap: Importance of chanting the rosary of these four beads Rudraksh, Crystal, Tulsi, Kamalmani…

June 10, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Mala Jap Benefits: Many times you see people chanting with different beads, but no attention is paid to what it could mean. Actually, chanting is not only the pronunciation of mantras but it is also a means of staying emotionally connected with God. Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita, patraam pushpam phalan toyam yo me bhaktya prayachhati, tadhaan bhaktyupahritmashnami prayatmanah which means that He gladly accepts even the leaves, flowers, fruits or water offered with devotion. Similarly, chanting has also been considered a symbol of love and devotion.

In Treta and Dwapar Yugas, continuous devotion, penance and yagya were performed to please God, but in Kaliyuga, chanting has been given maximum importance. It is said that if you chant God’s name with concentration even for an hour, you get a divine experience. Some people use rosary while chanting, while others chant silently or without any voice. However, in Kaliyuga, four types of rosaries are used for chanting.

Rudraksh rosary

It is believed that chanting with Rudraksha rosary brings direct blessings of Lord Shiva. Wearing Rudraksha rosary protects from untimely death. Also, Bholenath fulfills all the wishes. However, it is not limited to just wearing the rosary or chanting it, it also depends on the purity of the person’s karma.

crystal rosary

Crystal Mala provides special powers. Wearing it gives the power to understand the mind of another person and technically, very special powers are manifested in the person.

Tulsi Garland

Lord Vishnu loves Tulsi garland the most. People of all classes can wear this garland. People of all ages can be seen wearing it in institutions like ISKCON. At the same time, we chant with this rosary. Tulsi rosary brings the blessings of Vishnu and provides the necessary strength to live life. According to Padma Purana, it is believed that by wearing Tulsi Mala around the neck for at least 108 days, one gets the results of Ashwamedha Yagya.

Kamalmani Mala (Lotus Seed Rosary)

Kamalmani Mala (rosary of lotus seeds) is most dear to Mahalakshmi. Chanting this destroys the enemy and removes visual defects. Along with this, negative energy also runs away. By wearing a garland of lotus beads one gets the blessings of Mahalakshmi.
