
A massive fire broke out in a pub in Bangkok, killing at least 27 people. The fire brigade brought the fire under control after a lot of effort. Rescue workers said that the fire was reported around midnight. Footage shared online by the first responders to the scene showed massive flames shooting from the front door of the pub in the Thai capital and thick black smoke billowing into the sky as people tried to flee.
Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul told reporters at the scene that 27 people had died and many had been taken to hospital. He said that the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Fire brigade brought the fire under control
Officials said that it took about half an hour for the fire brigade to control the fire. Pictures after the incident show burnt tables and chairs and the damaged interior of the pub. Such incidents have happened in Thailand before. In 2022, 14 people died in a fire at a music pub in the eastern part of the country.

66 people died in the fire
More than a decade before that, on January 1, 2009, a fire broke out during New Year’s celebrations at Santika Nightclub in the Thai capital, killing 66 people and injuring more than 200. The fire was reportedly caused by a fireworks display inside the house.
