
A major accident took place in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday afternoon. A military truck of 18 Sikh Light Infantry (LI) lost control on NH-13 and fell into a deep gorge. One soldier was martyred in this accident, while two other soldiers were injured. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital, where one soldier was declared dead.
Both the injured soldiers are being treated at Bomdila District Hospital and Dirang CHC. His condition is said to be stable. At present the investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
Army truck fell into ditch
In fact, in West Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday, an Indian Army truck slipped and fell into a ditch on the side of the hilly road on NH 13, due to which one soldier died and two others were injured. This vehicle belonged to 18 Sikh Light Infantry (LI) and at the time of the accident, three soldiers were traveling towards their unit.
According to officials, the truck broke the chain-link fence of the headquarters of the 30th SSB battalion and entered the premises and crashed near the battalion’s physical training (PT) ground. This part of NH-13 passes through extremely inaccessible and steep mountain slopes.
A soldier died in an accident
According to an official report, the Rapid Response Team (RRT) of the 30th battalion of the SSB immediately reached the accident site and started the rescue operation. The report said that one of the injured soldiers was first taken to the SSB’s MI room, where the medical officer gave him first aid.
After this he was referred to the district hospital of Bomdila. Meanwhile, the other two soldiers were immediately taken to the Community Health Center (CHC) of Dirang. According to the report, the doctor of Community Health Center of Dirang declared one soldier dead on reaching the hospital.
Investigation into the case continues
The other two soldiers are undergoing treatment in the health centers of Bomdila and Dirang. His condition is being constantly monitored. Officials said that the concerned army units have been formally informed about the incident. The reasons for the accident are not yet known and detailed information in this regard is awaited.
