How to worship on Mahesh Navami?

After taking bath on the day of Mahesh Navami, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are ritually worshiped at home or temple. During the puja, water, milk, belpatra, datura and fruits are offered to Lord Shiva. There is a tradition of offering wedding material, flowers and makeup items to Goddess Parvati. Devotees chant Shiva mantras and pray for the happiness and prosperity of the family. Recitation of Shiv Chalisa, Rudrashtak and Mahamrityunjaya Mantra on this day is also considered particularly fruitful.
