
The tussle over seat distribution within the Mahayuti has intensified regarding the elections to be held on 17 Legislative Council seats of Maharashtra. BJP is in favor of fielding its candidates on 12 out of 17 seats. Whereas Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is adamant on the demand of 5 seats for his Shiv Sena, while NCP led by Sunetra Pawar has also expressed its claim on 3 seats. There is said to be resentment in the Shinde camp over BJP’s stand regarding seat distribution.
Eknath Shinde, who is said to be angry with the attitude of Maharashtra BJP leaders, recently reached Delhi and met Union Minister Amit Shah. During this, he demanded 5 seats for his party in the Legislative Council elections. According to sources, Shinde said that his party has been continuously following the coalition dharma and this time his party should get proper representation on the basis of political strength. During the meeting, Amit Shah assured him that his views would be considered. Now the final decision on seat sharing is expected to be taken at Delhi level.
Shinde got angry on media questions
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who was returning after meeting the Chief Minister after the cabinet meeting, was surrounded by the media. Shinde, who usually talks to the media in a relaxed manner, got angry at the media persons on questions related to the Legislative Council elections. Initially he refrained from saying anything in this matter and started moving ahead. Later, on the request of the media, he had a brief conversation, but refrained from giving any reaction on the issue of seat sharing.
Shinde sticks to demand for 5 seats
Meanwhile, Maharashtra BJP President Ravindra Chavan has reached Delhi with the list of possible candidates. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that all issues will be resolved through talks. However, no concrete result emerged from the discussion of about 15 minutes between the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister after the cabinet meeting. At present Shinde is firm on his demand of 5 seats.
