Mahadev App Case: Saurabh Chandrakar arrested in Oman, preparations intensified to bring him to India

India has tightened its grip on Mahadev App promoter Saurabh Chandrakar. Accused Saurabh Chandrakar has been arrested in Oman on the request of the government. It is alleged that Saurabh had entered Oman through a fake Indonesian passport. After his arrest, the Indian government has started the process of bringing him back. For this, the legal process of extradition (sending to India) is being completed from the Oman government.

According to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), proceeds of crime worth more than Rs 5,000 crore have been generated through this app. According to the information, Hadev App promoter Saurabh Chandrakar has been arrested by Royal Oman Police from Muscat. It is being told that Saurabh Chandrakar was earlier living in United Arab Emirates (UAE). His arrest has been made on the basis of Interpol’s red notice, which was issued on the request of Indian investigative agencies.

Saurabh imprisoned in Al Khoud Detention Center

At present, Saurabh Chandrakar has been kept in Al Khoud Detention Center in Muscat. He has also hired a team of lawyers to fight the case on his behalf. At the same time, investigation into the case of fake passport and illegal entry into Oman is going on. Here, Indian investigative agencies have also started preparations to extradite accused Saurabh to India. However, it is not yet clear as to when the accused can be brought to India.

Was detained by police in UAE in 2024

It is said that earlier in 2024, Chandrakar was detained in UAE on the basis of Red Notice of Interpol. At that time India had requested to extradite him, but this process could not be completed and he was later released. Meanwhile, there were also reports that his partner Ravi Uppal has fled from UAE.

Mahadev App was started in Dubai

According to media reports, Saurabh Chandrakar is absconding since 2019. He along with his partner Ravi Uppal started ‘Mahadev Online Betting Network’ from Dubai. The network is under investigation as it is accused of promoting illegal betting on sports like cricket, football, tennis, badminton, poker and card games as well as on election results.
