July 1, 2026 by Uma Shankar

Lord Krishna Broke Vow: The war of Mahabharata was not just fought for the entire state, but it was a fight between religion and morality. At the end of this battle religion won. The war of Mahabharata lasted for 18 days in the field of Kurukshetra, in which innumerable heroes sacrificed their lives. In this war, Lord Shri Krishna’s army was fighting on behalf of the Kauravas and he himself remained on the side of the Pandavas and became the charioteer of Arjun’s chariot.

In the war of Mahabharata, Lord Shri Krishna had vowed not to take up weapons, but do you know that there came a moment in the war of Mahabharata when Lord Shri Krishna had to break his vow? God had broken his promise and lifted the wheel of the chariot. Let us know this interesting and unheard story of Mahabharata.

according to legend…

According to the legend, even before the start of the Mahabharata war, Lord Shri Krishna had told Arjun that he would not take up weapons in this war and would only handle the chariot as a charioteer. On the other hand, the Kauravas had decided to fight the war with full force. The Kauravas had created an uproar during the war. The experts of the Kaurava army had caused great harm to the Pandava army.

On the tenth day of the war, the attack became more intense, due to which the Pandavas’ army started appearing weak. Seeing the crisis that befell the Pandavas’ army, Lord Krishna’s patience broke and he became very angry. This is because they knew that if the war continued like this then it would be very difficult to protect the religion. Then the Lord came down from the chariot.

Shri Krishna ran to kill his grandfather

After this, God picked up the wheel of the chariot and ran towards Pitamah to kill him. Seeing God coming towards him, grandfather Bhishma was very happy that Lord Shri Krishna himself was coming to grant him salvation. Grandfather Bhishma put away his bow and arrows. Seeing the Lord running towards his grandfather with the chariot wheel, Arjun got scared and stopped Shri Krishna.

Arjun reminded God of his vow. Then on Arjun’s request, Lord Krishna left the wheel and started handling the chariot. The lifting of the chariot wheel by Shri Krishna during the war has been described in detail in the Bhishma Parva of the Mahabharata.
