Vidur: Mahatma Vidur stayed away from the war of Mahabharata. Vidur remained neutral and merely witnessed this terrible war. Vidur Maharaj was the general secretary of Dhritarashtra, but Duryodhana had insulted him, so Vidur stayed away from the war. Vidur was the incarnation of Dharmaraj and he always stood with the truth. He knew that the Kauravas were on the path of unrighteousness. For this reason also he stayed away from war.
Balram: On one hand, while Lord Krishna participated in the Mahabharata war as Arjun’s charioteer, his elder brother Balram ji had stayed away from this war. Pandavas were his well-wishers, but Duryodhana was a disciple of Balram. For this reason he was a well-wisher of both and did not participate in the war.
King of Udupi: Udupi, which is today known as Karnataka. The king there did not participate in the war. The king of Udupi had arranged food for the army at the behest of Lord Krishna, but stayed away from the Mahabharata war.
Rukmi: Rukmi, brother of Shri Krishna’s wife Rukmini, was counted among the powerful warriors of that time. He wanted to support the Pandavas in the Mahabharata war. Rukmi went to the Pandavas and started showing arrogance of bravery. Due to his nature, Rukmi’s proposal was rejected by Arjun. That’s why he could not participate in the Mahabharata war.
