Shakuni never had the desire that Gandhari should marry blind Dhritrashtra, but due to the pressure of Bhishma Pitamah, she and the king of Gandhara i.e. Gandhari’s father King Subal did not agree. Then Gandhari was married to Dhritarashtra.
After marrying Gandhari, Dhritarashtra came to know the truth about Gandhari, after which he attacked the kingdom of Gandhar and imprisoned Gandhari’s entire family including her father King Subal and brother Shakuni.
