Dilnawaz Shaikh to Sara and then Manyata
Born on 22 July 1978 in a Muslim family in Mumbai, Manyata’s real name is Dilnawaz Shaikh. His childhood was spent in Dubai, where his father had his own clothing business. Dilnawaz dreamed of becoming an actress in Bollywood since childhood. When she came to Mumbai with the desire to become a heroine, she initially kept her screen name Sara Khan. However, fate had something else in store. Dilnawaz did not get any special projects in the beginning. During this time, in 2003, she was offered an item number (Alhad Mast Jawani…) in Prakash Jha’s blockbuster film ‘Gangajal’.

Prakash Jha, director of the film ‘Gangajal’, felt that the name Dilnawaz Shaikh or Sara was a bit strange and long for a Bollywood actress. It was Prakash Jha who named him Manyata. To establish her foothold in the film industry, Manyata also worked in KRK’s (Kamal Rashid Khan) low-budget film ‘Lovers Like Us’. When Sanjay Dutt bought the rights of this film, Manyata met Sanju Baba for the first time. Sanjay Dutt liked Manyata’s simplicity, her caring nature and homely style so much that he fell in love with Manyata. Then, despite opposition from the family and the age difference of 19 years between them, both of them got married in a court in Goa on 11 February 2008. Today Manyata Dutt is not only the mother of Sanjay Dutt’s two twin children (Shahraan and Iqra), but also handles his entire business and empire worth crores as the CEO of Sanjay Dutt Productions.
