If you have LPG cylinder (LPG) along with piped gas (PNG) in your house, then the equation of your kitchen is going to change from June 1. Extensive amendments are being made in the rules ranging from gas subsidy, refilling methods to new connections. The biggest change is that now only one type of gas connection will be valid at one address. Those houses where PNG line is operational will no longer be able to book LPG cylinder even if they want to. Apart from this, the time limit for filling two cylinders has also been changed. The direct focus of the government is to stop black marketing of gas.
If there is PNG then LPG connection will be cut.
Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have fully linked their digital databases. This has made it easier to track which families are using LPG along with PNG at the same address. Under the new rules, now such customers will have to give up their LPG connection. The system has been updated in such a way that if an active PNG connection is found in any house, the refill booking of the cylinder there will be automatically blocked. If you ignore the rules, the company can suspend or cancel your LPG connection forever.
Those who leave the connection will get special facility
Many customers start worrying about the future after hearing about surrendering the cylinder. A very practical solution to this problem has been found. Any customer who gets his old LPG connection closed after adopting PNG will be given a ‘transfer voucher’ from the gas agencies. The biggest advantage of this voucher is that if you shift to an area in future due to job or any other reason where PNG facility is not available, then you will be able to get your LPG connection restarted without any hassle through this voucher.
New deadline for refill booking fixed
A new rule has also been implemented on the system of continuously booking gas. Now it has been made mandatory to keep a fixed gap between booking of two cylinders. Customers in urban areas will have to wait for at least 25 days to book a new cylinder. For rural areas this limit has been kept at 45 days. However, the good thing is that there has been no cut in the quota of 12 subsidized cylinders annually. Along with this, changes have also been made in the security deposit, regulator charges and installation fees for taking a new connection.
New masterplan to stop black marketing
A clear strategy is working behind all these strict steps. In fact, complaints were being received at many places about subsidized domestic cylinders being used commercially. Empty cylinders kept in PNG houses could become a source of black marketing of gas. This digital integration will bring transparency in the system. Apart from this, the deadline of the ongoing ‘National PNG Drive 2.0’ campaign to increase awareness about piped gas across the country has also been extended till June 30.
