June 18, 2026 by Uma Shankar

LPG prices directly affect the monthly budget of every common man. In such a situation, there is a relief news related to the latest rate of LPG cylinder. On Thursday, June 18, oil companies have not made any change in the prices of domestic gas. If we look at today’s rates, there is a huge difference in prices in different parts of the country. While the residents of Mumbai are getting the cheapest gas, in inaccessible hilly areas like Leh the same cylinder has crossed the figure of Rs 1,179. Meanwhile, such figures are also coming out from some countries of the world, where the price of cylinder is less than Rs 250.

Cheapest gas in these countries of the world

A comparative assessment of retail prices of LPG at the international level presents a very interesting picture. In countries like Saudi Arabia, Russia, Algeria and Kazakhstan, which are leaders in energy production, LPG is available at very cheap prices. If we look at the figures, the estimated price of a 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder in Algeria is only Rs 233 in Indian currency. Similarly, in the African country Angola this price is around Rs 505, whereas in Kazakhstan customers have to pay Rs 592 for it. Tax structures, subsidy policies and delivery costs vary from country to country, so actual market prices may vary slightly. Despite this, gas prices in these producing countries are at the lowest level compared to many Asian countries including Europe.

Prices below Rs 1000 in metros

If we talk about the plains and big cities of India, the budget of consumers here is currently under control. In the country’s financial capital Mumbai, domestic gas cylinder is available at the cheapest price i.e. Rs 941.50. Its price in the national capital Delhi is stable at Rs 942. People of IT hub Bengaluru have to spend Rs 944.50 for this. The price in Ahmedabad and Gurugram is Rs 949. Moving ahead in the list of major cities, the rate is Rs 952.50 in Jaipur, Rs 956 in Goa, Rs 957.50 in Chennai and Rs 968 in Kolkata. In Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, this figure is Rs 976.50, while in Hyderabad the prices have reached close to one thousand (Rs 994).

Inflation hits hilly areas

Unlike the plain areas, in states with difficult geographical conditions, the prices of LPG are becoming heavy on the pockets of the common man. According to energy experts, the biggest reason for this is the high cost of transportation in these areas. The most expensive domestic cylinder in the country is being sold in Leh, where customers have to pay Rs 1,179. The situation is almost the same in the North-Eastern states also. LPG cylinder is available at Rs 1,119.50 in North Tripura, Rs 1,094.50 in Gangtok, Rs 1,094 in Aizawl and Rs 1,093.50 in West Imphal. Along with this, the price of domestic cylinder in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir is Rs 1,058. The additional cost of transporting gas to the mountains has to be directly borne by the customers.

Huge expense for commercial cylinders

There is also a huge geographical variation in the prices of 19 kg commercial cylinders for commercial use. Here too Leh is at the top, where the price of commercial gas is Rs 3,752. After this, the rate is fixed at Rs 3,638 in North Tripura, Rs 3,631.50 in Gangtok and Rs 3,599 per cylinder in West Imphal. Traders are paying Rs 3,595.50 in Aizawl and Rs 3,544 in Andaman.
