Lock Up 2 Controversy: The controversial OTT reality show ‘Lockup Season 2’ has started on Netflix. The makers had promised that this time the theme would be ‘Truth or Punishment’ and the real faces of the celebrities would be revealed. But as soon as the show starts, whatever is being seen inside the jail has left the audience confused. While on one hand, efforts are being made to easily justify ‘cheating’ i.e. infidelity on big platforms like Netflix, on the other hand, the LGBTQ+ community is being openly mocked and bullied. In such a situation, the biggest question arising is who will control these unruly prisoners?
This time big names have participated in Ekta Kapoor’s show, including Ram Kapoor And Govinda’s wife Sunita Ahuja is also there. Actually, the audience had high expectations from these two. But the attitude shown by these two in the initial weeks of the show has disappointed the fans a lot. The way both these contestants were seen giving clarification regarding cheating in the relationship and the casual manner in which they tried to justify infidelity, has shocked the audience badly. Seeing such ‘uncomfortable’ arguments on the dignity of relationships, people have erupted in anger on social media.

Justifying cheating, Ram Kapoor said in the show, “Many times there are ups and downs in a married life of 20-25 years, there are good and bad times. If in that bad phase, one partner accidentally does something (cheats), and later you realize that you cannot live without your partner and children, then with time everything becomes fine. There is no such thing that can end a relationship. Sometimes all this happens by mistake. Goes.”
Will classes be held on weekends?
The most surprising thing in this entire controversy was that immediately after this entire incident, the host farah khan Came inside the jail. The audience was expecting that on such a big incident and misbehavior, as soon as Farah arrives, she will interrupt these prisoners and give them a class. But nothing like that happened. Farah Khan did not consider it necessary to talk about this serious issue and she only kept discussing about the game (gameplay) and also gave feedback to the contestants about the game.
This attitude of the makers and hosts is not acceptable to the audience. However, now it is being speculated on social media that perhaps the makers are saving this big issue for the ‘weekend episode’ and Farah Khan can take a tough class of these contestants on the weekend. But the question is that when the incident happened immediately, why was on-the-spot action not taken?
Varun ‘Laila’ made fun of Sufi Motiwala
The matter was not limited to just promoting cheating in relationships. Even humanity seems to be being torn apart in this prison of ‘Lockup 2’. The show’s contestant Varun Yadav (who is famous as ‘Varun Laila’) has brutally targeted another contestant Sufi Motiwala on the basis of her gender and identity. At the very beginning of the show, Sufi made serious allegations against Varun that even before coming to the show, he had surrounded Sufi along with his friends at a party and had pressured him to dance by playing the song ‘Kajra Re’, due to which he was feeling very insecure. Now his comments are continuing even inside the jail.
The surprising thing is that when a person’s dignity and community (LGBTQ) was being openly mocked inside the jail and he was crying bitterly, all the other big contestants including Harshad Chopra, Ram Kapoor and Sunita Ahuja remained silent spectators. No one raised their voice against this bullying.
Akanksha Chamola raised her voice
In this entire matter, Akanksha Chamola was the only contestant who showed courage and stood in support of Sufi Motiwala and raised her voice against this action of Varun. Later Shreya Kalra also joined him. But the biggest shock came from the stand of TV’s ‘Chocolate Boy’ and simple looking Harshad Chopra. Despite seeing Varun’s actions in front of his eyes, he protected Varun and nominated Sufi.
Not only this, at the premiere of the show, Harshad Chopra himself became very emotional and revealed a big secret that in the year 2010, his girlfriend had cheated on him with his best friend, after which he was deeply shocked. A person who himself has been a victim of cheating and has suffered pain, not only supported a ‘cheater couple’ Yogesh Rawat and Akanksha Chaudhary inside the show but also kept them safe.

Today this show is being watched not only in India but in more than 240 countries of the world through OTT. In such a situation, what kind of image is this behavior of our Indian actors and influencers presenting on the international stage? Normalizing cheating on a global platform, making the victim a villain and harassing someone in the name of gender cannot be tolerated at all. Perhaps this is the reason why today the audience is remembering ‘Bigg Boss’ host Salman Khan.
Salman always adopts a ‘no nonsense’ attitude towards such activities. If someone made fun of the community or justified infidelity in front of him, then on Weekend Ka Vaar that contestant would have had that class which the whole world would remember. Now it remains to be seen what action jailers Farah Khan and Ritesh Deshmukh take against this misbehavior in the weekend episode, or will these contestants continue to flout decorum.
