
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the Indian community gathered in thousands in Melbourne city of Australia, said that before this I had met him twice in Sydney. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was also present during this event named ‘Melbourne Meet Modi’. About 30 thousand people from the Indian community were present there.
He said that I have come here for the third time in the last 12 years. This time there has been a hat-trick. This shows at what height the relations between India and Australia are. He said that the city of Melbourne gives a glimpse of four seasons in one day, but the Indian community has made it more vibrant with its cultural color. There are many such places and markets in and around Melbourne, which are colored with the colors of Indianness.
He said that many Indians came earlier and generations changed, but the Indianness within remained alive. There will be many Indians like this here. In whose house two time zones operate. Here people come home from school according to Australian time.
New era of friendship between India and Australia
Before Modi’s address, PM Albanese said that there is a new phase of friendship between India and Australia. My friend Modi is welcome here. PM Modi is a good friend of Australia. He said that I have not forgotten the honor I received in Ahmedabad. He also said that in times of crisis, India stands at the forefront.
Earlier, PM Narendra Modi reached Australia on Wednesday in the second phase of his three-nation tour where he held a bilateral meeting with host Prime Minister Albanese. PM Modi reached Australia on Wednesday on a 3-day visit. The main objective of his visit is to strengthen defence, energy and trade relations.
PM Modi on Thursday advocated for early finalization of the proposed India-Australia Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA), saying that this will take bilateral economic relations to new heights. He jointly addressed the Australia-India CEO Forum and Economic Roadmap Business event in Melbourne with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese.
Both these events were attended by many leading business figures, representatives of Australia’s leading superannuation funds and institutional investors and vice-chancellors of Australia’s leading universities. Modi welcomed the announcement by AustralianSuper CEO Paul Schroder of the company’s investment of 500 million Australian dollars in India.
