Lest the SIT report be stolen… Akhilesh Yadav’s taunt on Ram temple donation issue

June 21, 2026 by Uma Shankar

The opposition is continuously attacking BJP and people associated with the Ram Mandir Trust over the alleged theft of offerings in the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The biggest thing is that SIT (Special Investigation Team) has been formed and investigation is also going on, but no FIR has been registered yet. Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav took a dig at this on Sunday.

Akhilesh posted on X and asked the SIT to take care that the investigation report itself may not be stolen. He said that they would probably ask for 15 more days’ time, which seems to indicate that the time is being extended so that the evidence can be destroyed or disposed of. It is noteworthy that Akhilesh Yadav’s initial tweet regarding theft of offerings in Ram temple created a huge uproar and a round of allegations and counter-allegations started.

SIT should take care that the investigation report itself is not stolen.

Then they will say wait for 15 more days. The days are increasing because the evidence is piling up.

At present the SIT team has returned to Lucknow after interrogation and is currently finalizing the report. It is expected that the team will submit the report to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday.

140 page investigation report ready

The investigating SIT left for Lucknow from Ayodhya late on Saturday night. According to media reports, the investigation report is about 140 pages long and contains details of many facts and evidence related to the case. However, about 20 support staff members of SIT are staying in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, who are gathering more information. Sources say that the General Secretary of Ram Mandir Trust was also questioned once again. This interrogation, which took place in a closed room, lasted for about three hours and its video recording was also done.

Action will be taken on the basis of SIT report

According to media reports, disciplinary action can be taken against many people on the basis of SIT documents. There is also a possibility that if negligence or irregularities are proved regarding the donation box, then the services of some temple employees may be terminated. It is believed that major action can be taken soon on this matter from the government level.
