
Terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is preparing a new Markaz (terrorist center) in Abbottabad in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province of Pakistan. It is being told that this is the fifth major terrorist structure established or rebuilt by Lashkar after Operation Sindoor. This has been revealed in the investigation of intelligence report.
According to intelligence sources, this new Markaz is being built in the name of Abdul Rehman Makki, brother-in-law of Lashkar chief Hafiz Saeed and a senior leader of the banned terrorist organization. Born in Bahawalpur, Punjab province of Pakistan, Makki has already been declared a terrorist by America and India. He is a member of JuD’s Markaji (central) team and Dawati (conversion) team.
Makki is the deputy emir/chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba alias Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) and heads the political affairs wing of JuD/LeT. He has been the head of Lashkar’s foreign affairs department and a member of the Shura (governing body). Makki has been considered one of the key strategists of Lashkar-e-Taiba and the leaders who expanded the radical network.
Expansion of terrorist structures after Operation Sindoor
According to intelligence reports, after Operation Sindoor, activities of expansion or construction of many new bases by terrorist groups have come to light. It is said that on 26 September 2025, a new expansion was done in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK). 16 February 2026: Reports of increased activities in Kotli emerged. On 12 March 2026, information about new structures was received in Mirpur. Notice of expansion in Rawalakot on 13 March 2026. Now it has come to light that a new Markaz is being prepared in Abbottabad.
According to sources, after the destruction of Lashkar’s headquarters in Muridke in Punjab province during the Indian military action in May 2025, the organization has started changing the center of its activities. Now the organization is reportedly busy strengthening its training and radical network in KPK and the areas bordering Afghanistan.
Fear of targeting orphan children
According to intelligence agencies, there is a possibility of recruitment and radicalization of orphan children and youth in this new complex being prepared in Abbottabad. Reports have claimed that terrorist organizations target youth who have weak social and family security, so that it becomes difficult to fix accountability when they are killed.
Activities increased after Operation Sindoor
It is noteworthy that after the death of 26 civilians in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025, India had launched precise missile attacks on terrorist structures located in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied areas under Operation Vermillion on 7 May 2025. Nine major terrorist hideouts and training centers of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed were destroyed in the action of the Indian Armed Forces.
Security agencies are keeping an eye
The alleged headquarters of Lashkar in Muridke was also heavily damaged, which was later publicly confirmed by senior commanders of the organization. Security agencies are keeping a close watch on these activities. It is believed that the structures of terrorist organizations are being shifted to new areas. Also, after Operation Sindoor, terrorist structures are being expanded.
