Lalit Modi fell in love with a divorced woman 10 years older than him and clashed with his family for marriage.

Former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi came into limelight in the year 2022 for his relationship with actress Sushmita Sen. But the story of the love affair with Meenal Modi, wife of Lalit Modi, who was in love with Sen, who was 12 years younger to him, is quite interesting. In an interview with ANI, Modi told Smita Prakash how he had fallen in love with Minal, who was 10 years older than him and was married.

Minal Modi was from a Nigerian Sindhi family. Meenal Lalit’s mother Bina was the daughter of Modi’s friend’s friend. Meenal’s Lalit He used to keep coming and going to Delhi’s house. There was a gap of 10 years between the two. When Lalit Modi was about 18 years old and was studying in America, he met Minal in London. There was a very good friendship between Lalit and Meenal. Which gradually turned into love for Lalit.

When Meenal rejected Lalit’s proposal

When Lalit Modi proposed to Minal, she rejected it considering it childish. She was very angry with Lalit and did not talk to him for about 4 years. Meanwhile, after rejecting the proposal, Minal married Jack Sagrani, a big businessman of Saudi Arabia. Jack and Meenal also had a daughter. After some time, due to his name being involved in a scam, Jack was jailed in Saudi and Minal came to Delhi with her daughter.

Closeness between elder two after divorce

After Minal came to Delhi, their conversation started again and their closeness started increasing. Meanwhile, Minal also got divorced from Jack Sagrani. In this time of loneliness and crisis, Lalit supported Meenal a lot and later both of them decided to spend their life together, but the decision of marrying Meenal spoiled the relations between Lalit Modi and his family.

Dispute in the house due to marriage decision

Lalit’s parents were strongly against the decision of marrying Meenal. When Lalit expressed his desire to marry Meenal, a huge controversy arose in the Modi family. Mother Bina Modi felt that Minal had framed her son, while father KK Modi was strongly against this marriage because Minal was 9 years older than Lalit, was divorced and was the mother of a girl. When the parents were not ready for marriage at any cost, Lalit Modi convinced his grandmother Dayawati Modi. After grandmother’s intervention and persuasion, the family finally had to give in.

On 17 October 1991, Lalit and Meenal got married in Mumbai. Minal has had a great influence in Lalit’s life. Meenal always stood by Lalit in his life. In December 2018, Meenal died of cancer after 27 years, leaving Lalit heartbroken.
