It is extremely hot in every city of Uttar Pradesh at this time. Meanwhile, the rising temperature and the resulting power cuts have made people angry. People are protesting on the streets against power cuts. There is anger among the people regarding the large scale power cuts in the state. It is being told that there is power cut of 8 to 10 hours in many cities of UP. The situation is even worse in rural areas. Where there is power crisis. It includes many big cities along with the capital of UP, Lucknow. Let us know whether there is shortage of electricity in the state or whether the distribution system is weak.
There is power cut in Sitapur, Gonda and Rae Bareli of Uttar Pradesh. Power cuts in the scorching heat have left people in dire straits. Now people have come to the streets against this. The situation is such that the government has decided to deploy PAC in 31 sub-stations of Lucknow considering them as sensitive areas. And the big news has come that CM Yogi is going to hold a review meeting regarding power cuts at 10.30 am on Sunday. In which along with power supply, fault, tripping and accountability of officers will be discussed.
Heat increased the temperature, power cuts troubled
Earlier on Friday, it was reported that in the 22 hottest cities of the world, the mercury is more than 47 degrees and 13 of these cities are from UP. Imagine what will happen to people if there is no light in this heat. The temperature in Prayagraj is around 44 degrees but people say that there is a power cut of 5 to 6 hours. In Varanasi also the temperature is touching 43 to 44 degrees but people are saying that the situation is bad due to power crisis of 4 to 6 hours.
State capital is also in bad condition
In the state capital Lucknow, the temperature is near 43 degrees but people here claim that the reduction of 4 to 6 hours in this heat is becoming unbearable. The condition of Kanpur is also exactly the same. Where people have to face power cuts of 5-7 hours during the summer season, the situation is worse in rural areas. A similar situation prevails from Agra to Bahraich and from Gonda to Rae Bareli.
System collapses due to increasing demand for electricity
According to a report on electricity demand, the demand for electricity in UP on May 17 was 28 thousand 904 MW. Which had increased to 29 thousand 330 MW on May 18. Similarly, on May 19, the demand for electricity had crossed 30 thousand MW. Whereas on May 20, a demand of 30 thousand 458 MW was recorded in the state. Apart from this, this figure reached 33 thousand MW during the night time of 21st May. That means in just 5 days the demand for electricity in UP has increased by 4000 MW. Whereas according to the data, the maximum demand in May last year was 28 thousand 858 MW.
Distribution system is weak, department dependent on old infrastructure
But the question is whether the electricity crisis in UP is only due to increasing demand. Or the reason is also the existing infrastructure, which is bearing this weight. According to experts, it is feared that this condition of UP is more due to failure of infrastructure than lack of electricity. He believes that the existing and old infrastructure is not able to handle the sudden increase in demand for electricity amid the intense heat in UP.
Old transformers are also getting damaged again and again due to overloading. Whereas weak and old wires are not able to withstand the voltage problem. And when a large number of technical problems are occurring, there is a delay in fixing them. Because the number of contract workers was reduced but new employees and laborers were not recruited.
BJP MLA wrote a letter to the Energy Minister
So the problem is of electricity demand. Or the system of wires and transformers that takes it from the thermal power plant or the national grid to the fans or ACs in people’s homes is weak. It is claimed that the electricity load kept increasing year after year, but the important things like transformers and cables were not upgraded accordingly.
Another BJP MLA has written a letter to the Energy Minister on the power crisis and claimed that Chandauli in UP is getting electricity only for 12-13 hours. Due to which people are worried. This complaint has been made by Sushil Singh, MLA from Sayedaraja Assembly of Chandauli. This means that the power crisis in UP is continuously increasing. Now it remains to be seen how the government will deal with this.
