Lord Krishna’s Leela: Lord Shri Hari Vishnu, the sustainer of the world, had incarnated in the form of Shri Krishna in Dwaparayuga. Putana started killing all the newborns one by one. According to the legend, after reaching Gokul, Putana took the form of a beautiful woman. All the villagers were attracted by his appearance. Putna reached Nandbaba’s house and saw little Krishna sleeping. After this Putana lifted Shri Krishna in her lap. On this, Yashoda ji thought that Goddess Lakshmi herself had come from Devlok to feed her milk to Kanha, but Putana had applied poison named Kalakoot on her breasts. After taking Kanha in her lap, she started feeding him milk.
God took away the life of Putna
Putna had hoped that Shri Krishna would die as soon as he drank the milk, but little Krishna started sucking Putna’s life along with her milk. In this way God took away Putna’s life in a few moments. Due to this, Putana fell on the ground and started crying with her arms and legs spread. His huge body was spread up to 12 kilometers. Yashoda ji and the Gopis picked up little Krishna. Even though Putana had come to kill Shri Krishna, she had fed the Lord with her milk. On this pretext he had touched the body of God.
Due to this reason Pootna had become pure. Since Putana had fed milk to Lord Krishna, God granted salvation to Putana. Not only this, he sent her to his abode and gave the status of mother to Putana.
