In the case of murder of real estate businessman Ketan Agarwal in Lonavala rural area, his father Vishal Agarwal met Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Pune today and demanded justice for his son. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured the family that the government is fully committed to providing harshest punishment to the culprits in this case and no stone will be left unturned in providing justice. Vishal Aggarwal demanded that the case be heard in a fast track court and senior jurist Ujjwal Nikam be appointed as special government lawyer.
The Chief Minister immediately accepted both the demands and gave necessary instructions to the Secretary of the Law and Justice Department. According to sources, senior advocate Ujjwal Nikam has also agreed to take responsibility as special government lawyer in this case.
CM Fadnavis expressed grief
CM Devendra Fadnavis expressed deep grief over the alleged murder of businessman Ketan Aggarwal and said that the society should consider what kind of environment should be created so that such cruel thoughts do not develop in children. According to reports, Ketan Aggarwal died after falling from Lohagarh Fort near Pune on June 18, following which a case was registered. Lonavala Rural Police is investigating the alleged murder of Ketan Aggarwal and they suspect that the main accused, Siya Goyal, was not ready to get married at this stage of her life and was under pressure from her family.
What is the reason behind this mentality?
Talking to journalists on this incident, CM Fadnavis said, ‘This is a very shocking incident, which cannot even be imagined. This is an incident that forces us, as a society, to think seriously. Why do children from educated and affluent families develop such malicious and destructive thinking? What is the reason behind this mentality? We need to think deeply about this. He urged the citizens to look at this matter not just as a crime but also from a social perspective.
Demand for strict punishment to the culprits
Earlier on Thursday, Pooja Goyal, mother of accused Siya Goyal, demanded strict punishment for her son in connection with the alleged murder of businessman Ketan Agarwal, saying that if her daughter is found guilty of the crime, she should also suffer the same fate and be thrown from the same spot where the victim’s body was thrown.
