
Another unique record has been registered in the account of the Border Security Force (BSF), which guards the country’s borders. BSF’s all-women mountaineering team created a new record by climbing the challenging Mount Everest on Thursday. Praising the success of women, Home Minister Amit Shah said that women power has proved the invincible strength of the Border Security Force.
A BSF spokesperson said that yesterday on Thursday, an all-women mountaineering team of BSF created a record by climbing Mount Everest and also sang “Vande Mataram” from the world’s highest peak. This women’s team included Constable Munmun Ghosh from West Bengal, Constable Kausar Fatima from Ladakh, Constable Rebecca Singh from Uttarakhand and Constable Tsering Chorol from Kargil.

Giving information about the success of the women’s team, BSF spokesperson said that these women successfully completed the climb to the peak of Mount Everest at 8 am on Thursday Indian time. He further said that these climbers also sang the national song “Vande Mataram” from the world’s highest peak, which also created a deep moment of national pride.
The team left for Everest on 6 April
A statement issued by the BSF said, “This campaign is also a tribute to the immortal legacy of ‘Vande Mataram’, a song that has continuously inspired generations of Indians in the service of the country. Director General (DG) of the force Praveen Kumar spoke to these women personnel through radio link and congratulated them on their achievement. This group of women mountaineers was sent from Delhi on 6 April for their first expedition.
Two events during the mountaineering – the first-ever expedition of women to the 8,848.86 meter high peak and the singing of the national anthem – were of great importance. These were planned to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee year of the Border Security Force and the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram” in 2026.
BSF with about 2.7 lakh personnel was formed in the year 1965. Its main function is to protect India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh, apart from this it also plays different roles in the field of internal security of the country.
