Kark Sankranti 2026: In Sanatan Dharma, the festival of Sankranti of Sun God has special significance. This festival is related to the change in the zodiac sign of Sun God. Whenever the Sun enters from one zodiac sign to another, the festival of Sankranti is celebrated. Today, Sun God will enter Moon’s Cancer sign at 11.45 pm. This will be the moment of Sankranti. In such a situation, the holy festival of Cancer Sankranti is being celebrated today. In the scriptures, Cancer Sankranti has more importance than other Sankranti of Sun God.

Cancer Sankranti is considered to be the day when the Sun bends from the North to the Southern Hemisphere and ‘Dakshinayan’ begins. Just as ‘Uttarayan’ begins when Sun God enters Capricorn, which is called the day of the gods, in the same way ‘Dakshinayan’ begins when Sun God enters Cancer. This is called the night period of the gods. With Cancer Sankranti, days start decreasing and nights increase. In such a situation, let us know the auspicious time of Cancer Sankranti and the time of worship of Sun God. Also know the method of worshiping Sun God.

Karka Sankranti 2026’s virtue and great virtue period

  • According to Drik Panchang, today the auspicious period of Cancer Sankranti will start at 12.27 pm and will last till 07.21 pm. Its duration will be 06 hours 53 minutes.
  • The great auspicious period of Cancer Sankranti will last from 05:03 pm to 07:21 pm. Tomorrow the duration of Maha Punya Kaal will last for 02 hours 18 minutes.

Karka Sankranti Puja Method

  • On the day of Cancer Sankranti, wake up in Brahma Muhurta and take bath.
  • Then offer Arghya to the rising sun by mixing water, red flowers, Akshat and Roli in a copper pot.
  • Chant the mantras of Sun God and recite Aditya Hridaya Stotra or Gayatri Mantra.
  • After this, donate food, clothes, sesame seeds, jaggery, fruits or Dakshina as per your devotion.
  • If possible, provide food to poor and needy people on this day.
  • There is a religious belief that by doing this one gets the blessings of Sun God and many obstacles in life are removed.
