Kalyan Banerjee attacked
In fact, Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee claimed that he suffered a head injury in an alleged attack by BJP workers in West Bengal’s Hooghly district on Sunday, a day after the alleged attack on party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Sonarpur. He has faced opposition from the people. Seeing him, people raised slogans of thief and thief. Pictures and videos also surfaced on social media in which Kalyan Banerjee is seen falling on the road holding his head.
‘Tried to kill me’
After the attack, Kalyan Banerjee had said, ‘Look, how they attacked me in front of the police. Yesterday they tried to kill Abhishek and today they tried to kill me’. He also protested near Chanditala police station.
Kalyan Banerjee told that he was going to Chanditala police station in Hooghly district to submit a memorandum regarding the post-poll violence on Sunday. A group of BJP workers had gathered there carrying black flags and on seeing them they raised slogans of ‘thief’. He alleged that he was attacked near Chanditala police station.
TMC’s allegation
Here TMC alleged that after the formation of BJP government in the assembly elections, there is complete anarchy in West Bengal. The party said in a post on social media, ‘Less than 24 hours after the attack on @abhishekaitc yesterday, @KBanerjee_AITC was attacked today at Chanditala police station while going to hand over the delegation. He suffered injuries at the hands of BJP supported miscreants. How were these goons allowed to gather outside the police station? How can stone pelting happen in the presence of police? It has been 26 days since the election results were declared, yet post-poll violence continues unabated. Complete chaos! Democracy is under attack!’.
Mamta Banerjee will protest
Meanwhile, senior TMC leader Kunal Ghosh said that party chief Mamata Banerjee will protest on Rani Rashmoni Road in Kolkata on June 2 (Tuesday). He said that violence continues in the state after the elections. Mamata Banerjee will raise all the issues and lead our protest on Tuesday.
