The end of any creature born in Kaliyuga is certain. Despite all efforts, he cannot remain alive forever. In this way, change of eras is also natural in the cycle of time. In the scriptures, time is divided into four eras, namely Satyayuga, Tretayuga, Dwaparayuga and Kaliyuga. According to the Puranas, this Kaliyuga is going on. In many texts, the changes taking place in the nature and social conditions of humans in this era have been described. Of these, the characteristics of Kaliyuga have been discussed in detail in Shiv Purana.
There is a detailed description of the nature of Kaliyuga in the first and second chapters of Vidyashvara Samhita of Shiv Purana. The beginning of Kaliyuga, its symptoms and the changes taking place in human society have been described in the Maharishi Suta and the dialogues of the sages. According to Shiva Purana, as the influence of Kaliyuga increases, religion declines. People abandon the truth and turn towards vices like lies, deceit and greed. Symptoms like blaming others, coveting their property and attachment towards other women increase.
Will violent nature increase?
It is said in Shiva Purana that people will adopt violent nature and will consider the body as the soul. Atheism will increase, virtues will decrease. Respect for parents will decrease and family relations will weaken.
According to Shiv Purana, Kaliyuga will affect all sections of the society. Brahmins would give up the study of Vedas and religious rituals and use the knowledge only to earn a living. Education will become a means of earning money. Kshatriyas will lose courage and morality and lead immoral lives. Vaishyas will abandon the path of religion and indulge in fraudulent activities for the purpose of earning money. Shiv Purana states that as each class deviates from its duties, religion will decline in the society and selfishness, jealousy and ego will increase.
How much time is left for the end of Kaliyuga?
According to the Puranas, only about 5,000 years have passed since the beginning of Kaliyuga. The total duration of Kaliyuga is said to be 4,32,000 years, so according to Hindu scriptures, there are still millions of years left for the end of Kaliyuga.
