Jyeshtha Amavasya 2026 Date: Amavasya Tithi has special significance in Hindu religion, but when this Amavasya is of Adhikamas i.e. Malmas, then its glory increases manifold. In the year 2026, Jyeshtha Adhik month is going on and now it is at its last stage. This year, the last Amavasya of Adhikamas is falling on 15 June 2026. According to religious beliefs, this day is not only best for getting the blessings of Lord Vishnu, but it is also considered a boon for offering prayers to ancestors and blessings of ancestors. When is the new moon of Adhikamas?

According to Drik Panchang, Amavasya Tithi will start on June 14, 2026 at 12:19 pm. It will end on June 15, 2026 at 8:23 am. Since Amavasya Tithi will be present at the time of sunrise on 15th June, hence as per the rules of Udayatithi, fasting, bathing, charity and worship will be done on 15th June only. On this day, Abhijeet Muhurta will be from 11:54 am to 12:50 pm. Whereas Twilight Muhurta will be from 7:19 pm to 7:39 pm. Performing puja during these auspicious times is considered especially fruitful.

Why is the new moon of Adhikamas special?

Adhikamas is considered to be the favorite month of Lord Vishnu. For this reason, the importance of devotion, chanting, penance, charity and worship done in this month increases manifold. By remembering and offering offerings to ancestors on Amavasya Tithi, one receives the blessings of ancestors. Also, worshiping Lord Vishnu brings happiness, peace and prosperity in the family. According to religious beliefs, those who worship with devotion on this day, the negativity in their lives goes away and the obstacles in auspicious work start reducing.

Worship method of Lord Vishnu on Adhikamas Amavasya

On the day of Amavasya, wake up in the morning in Brahma Muhurta, take bath and wear clean clothes. If possible, take bath in a river, lake or holy water. After this, clean the temple of the house and install the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu. Offer yellow flowers, Tulsi leaves, sandalwood and yellow clothes to Lord Vishnu. Light a ghee lamp and perform the puja properly. Chant Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya mantra during the puja. Reciting Vishnu Sahasranama or stotras related to Sri Hari is also considered auspicious. After the puja, offer kheer, panchamrit, fruits or other satvik offerings to the Lord. Finally, pray for the happiness, prosperity of the family and peace of the ancestors.

Make offerings and donations for ancestors

Amavasya Tithi has been said to have special importance in offering and donating to the ancestors. On this day, it is considered auspicious to donate food, clothes, water, fruits or as per one’s capacity to the needy people. There is a religious belief that this reduces the effects of Pitra Dosh and one receives the blessings of ancestors. Apart from this, special importance has also been given to feeding cows, birds and needy people. By doing this one attains virtue.

Importance of Adhikamas Amavasya

There is a religious belief that worshiping Lord Vishnu and doing charity on the last Amavasya of Adhikamas brings happiness, peace and prosperity in life. This Amavasya is also special for paying tribute to ancestors. People who have Pitra Dosh in their horoscope should offer Tarpan or Pind Daan for their ancestors on this day. Waking up early in the morning and facing south and offering water to the ancestors brings peace to their souls and the family receives their blessings.
