Big help has been announced for West Indies cricket by the International Cricket Control (ICC). In the ICC Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Edinburgh, Ireland, under the chairmanship of Jay Shah, many major decisions were approved, in which the changes in the format of the upcoming editions of ODI and T20 World Cup have attracted the most discussion. But a big decision has also been taken by Shah for Cricket West Indies. ICC is giving a loan of 12.82 million dollars i.e. about Rs 123 crore to the Windies Board.
This ICC meeting was held in Edinburgh last Saturday-Sunday, in which the loan to be given to Cricket West Indies (CWI) was agreed upon. According to the information, ICC has taken this important decision after the poor financial condition of the Windies Board and its request for help. ICC has taken this decision as part of some important changes related to membership and assistance to member countries.
According to a report by Cricbuzz, the Windies Board had suffered a loss of $28 million in the last financial year, whereas its loss in the current financial year is estimated to be $26 million. Keeping this in view, this loan has been given by ICC only to ensure that Windies cricket and its associated players, coaching staff, match officials do not face any kind of problem and Windies cricket does not get disrupted.
Apart from this, ICC has also taken a decision regarding the new cricket team. The apex cricket body has recognized Mauritius cricket as an associate member country. With this, the number of cricket members recognized by ICC has increased to 111, of which 12 are full member countries.
