It is being told that Zakir Ganai was one of the two terrorists who were first seen by CCTV cameras in a dense garden in the area on July 3. On Wednesday, Zakir Ganai’s body was recovered near the encounter site in Shopian’s Chanapora area. Along with this, arms and ammunition have also been seized from the spot. This is being considered a big achievement for the security forces.

According to security agencies, two terrorists were seen in the CCTV cameras installed in the dense gardens of Shopian. One of them was Zakir Ganai, while the other is Latif Bhatt. After the killing of Zakir, now the entire focus of the security forces is on the search for the second terrorist Latif Bhatt. About five days ago, the activities of two suspected terrorists were captured in the CCTV installed in Chanapora area of Saidpora. After this, the security agencies became alert and continuous surveillance was increased in the area.
Search operation spread in seven villages
A joint team of Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is continuously conducting operations to search for terrorists. The search operation is spread in the area of seven villages. The entire area has been cordoned off so that no terrorist can escape.

Security agencies had received intelligence that Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Zakir Ganai and his associate Latif Bhat were hiding in Saidpora area. Based on this information, the Army and CRPF cordoned off the entire area and started a search operation. As soon as the security forces reached near the terrorists, firing started. After this the army retaliated, in which a terrorist Zakir Ganai was killed.
This operation was jointly conducted by Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and Victor Force, the army’s special anti-terrorism unit. In view of the possibility of terrorists escaping, the gardens and all possible routes around were completely sealed. Lighting arrangements have been made in the area to increase visibility at night.
