Canada Cricket Board Suspended: Taking a strict step, the International Cricket Council has banned the Canada Cricket Board. This big decision has been taken in the ICC Board meeting chaired by Chairman Jai Shah in Ahmedabad. The Council found the Canadian Cricket Board guilty of violating the rules related to membership and hence the ICC has suspended the membership of the Canadian Board. This decision has put the future of Kanai cricket in question. However, at present the ICC has not imposed any ban on the playing of the Canadian cricket team.
Ban on the board, no loss to the team
This decision, which was already being anticipated, was approved in the ICC board meeting held in Ahmedabad on 31 May along with the IPL final. The Canada Board was in the news for operational and administrative irregularities and many other reasons. Even the suspicion of fixing some of the team’s matches in the T20 World Cup 2026 was raised, due to which the sword of action was hanging on the cricket board.
Cricbuzz report According to ICC, ICC has made it clear that this decision will have no impact on the playing of the Canadian cricket team. Not only will Canada’s women’s and men’s teams be able to participate in ICC events, but the funding that the Board receives from the ICC will be available to the cricket teams under a system.
How will ICC’s ban be lifted?
Not only this, ICC has given an opportunity to the Canada Cricket Board, through which it can get its membership reinstated. Under this, some conditions will be given to the board for reinstatement of membership, so that the issues of governance and administration can be rectified. A committee of ICC will monitor it and only after following these conditions the board will get membership again.
